On 5th October 2018, Prayaas, the social impact club of EPGP organized an eye-check up camp in association with Shekar Eye Hospital for kids of Government School and the permanent and temporary staff of IIM Bangalore.
A total of 120 people participated in the camp. The doctors were happy with the turnout and said that” We found that many of the kids had problems with their vision but may be their parents don’t take enough initiatives to treat them. Such camps will really be beneficial to them”
The kids were served lunch at MDC hall and they enjoyed a lot getting a day break from their schools and visiting the green campus of IIM Bangalore.
The employees of IIM Bangalore also took part, and everyone was happy with the outcome of the camp. The employees consulted the doctors on cataract and Lasik surgeries. The doctors advised the patients on healthy reading habits and emphasized on the importance of regular eye checkup.
The event was constructive in creating health awareness. Dr. Ravi Kumar, the resident doctor of IIM Bangalore, advised the Prayaas group to keep a follow up on the kids, who were diagnosed with certain eye problems. At the end of the day, Dr. Ravi Kumar felicitated the doctors and hospital support staff and proposed to organize such camps in near future.
