‘You must be the change you want to see in the world’- Mahatma Gandhi
Keeping up with this inspiring statement, Prayaas, the social initiative wing of EPGP, IIM Bangalore is hosting this year’s Prayaas Day on 5th February 2017 (Sunday) at the IIMB Auditorium. The theme of the event is to promote social inclusion.
It is noteworthy that this year, the event will witness the participation of people belonging to the often neglected transgender community and underprivileged children from the Surabhi orphanage. It is a noble initiative to make it a special day for the ones deprived of the simple joys of life.
The day-long event will comprise of an Eye Camp, sessions aimed at generating awareness about transgender community, their challenges and achievements and fun group activities to create a congenial atmosphere.
The event will also involve the sharing of life experiences by eminent personalities from the transgender community. A movie screening and story-telling session would also be held for the participants. The EPGP students would also present dance performances on the occasion.
The highlight of the day, would be the concluding lecture by eminent Theatre and Film actor, Mr. Prakash Balewadi.
It is worth mentioning here, that the event is being organized by the students of the one-year full time residential EPGP programme of IIM Bangalore. The Prayaas team has conducted a lot of socially engaging events over the past year. A movie-screening session was held for the residents of an old age home, a day-long event was held for the residents of an orphanage and the students of EPGP celebrated Diwali in a unique way by presenting musical instruments and creating Rangolis with the residents of the Surabhi orphanage.
The EPGP students invite one and all to be a part of this wonderful celebration of life on the 5th of February at the IIMB Auditorium.
